Sanibel Fish House

Ate at this new restaurant yesterday and had a great meal.  It wasn’t very crowded, probably because few people are aware it has opened.  It’s in the old McT’s Shrimp House and the building  has been extensively remodeled and updated.  I highly recommend it!

Inaugural Tarpon Tournament

Ding Darling Wildlife Society and Doc Fords restaurant have joined forces for a tarpon tournament to be held May 5.  All entry fees will be distributed as tournament awards, but sponsorship donations will help support the work of the wildlife society.   With the mild winter we had, the Gulf waters are warming up quickly and there are reports of tarpon being caught already.  Beginning of May should be prime time for tarpon.  This is the first time they have tried a tarpon tournament like this so hopefully all the fisherman will get out there and support them.

There were all sorts of beautiful and unusual displays at the Shell Fair this past weekend.  They must have had a record turnout on Saturday as the traffic was terrible!

Sanibel Happenings

I hate the traffic this time of year, but I do like the fact that there is so much to do on the islands.  At SCCF there are loads of interesting talks about bobcats, coyotes, bears, owls, gators and birds.  This year also there is new talk on the tides .  Have you ever wondered why there are sometimes two high tides and other times only one?  It can really affect your shelling.  Stop by SCCF for a complete list of talks.  They are free to members and $5 for non-members.  See you there!
